Perfect Piano
Excerpts from the past two years

Catalunya Choir Tour 2009
Another very successful trip during the summer for the Children's Choir, performing in various theatres, music festivals and religious buildings in the Catalunya region of Spain.  A week of rehearsing, performing and leisure activities culminated in a grand final concert in the centre of Barcelona - definitely the highlight of the tour with a standing ovation, three encores and not a dry eye in the house!

Year 2 Choir Shines
An exciting time was had by Year 2 and their teachers one Tuesday afternoon in May 2010 when they came out on top as winners in the choral section of the North London Music Festival.  Our newly-formed Year 2 Choir was competing in the 8 years and under class against other choirs under the watchful eye and eager ear of the festival adjudicator, Beryl Foster.  Highgate's Year 2 Choir were the second choir to perform in their class and with all the wonderful support from parents in the audience, they did themselves proud, beginning with a superb introduction announcement, some lovely solos, duets and quintets and a fantastic rendition of their pieces.  The first song they sang was 'Little People' from Les Miserables and the adjudicator commented on the bright, confident opening, the clear words and the way they caught the fun of the piece.  Their second song was 'Somewhere Out There' from An American Tale and the choir was praised for its impressive opening, the confident solo voice and the good dynamic range.  the adjudicator went on to say that the tuning in both songs was very good, the choir paid proper attention to their conductor and they created a really lovely atmosphere through the music.  High praise indeed!  As if that wasn't enough, they subsequently had a phone call and were asked to sing in the final Festival Concert, as the organisers thought that the Choir gave a 'truly polished performance'.
